Two Sennheiser Products Nominated for TEC Awards

Audio specialist Sennheiser has scooped two nominations for the 2006 TEC Awards: for its HSP 2 and HSP 4 headmics and the SKM 5200 handheld transmitter. The coveted TEC Awards are presented by the Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio on behalf of the publishers of "Mix", the leading trade magazine for professional recording and audio technology. The winners will be announced on October 7 during the 121st Convention of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) in San Francisco.

For the fifth time in succession, Sennheiser products have been nominated for the prestigious TEC Awards. At the 22nd Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards, the audio specialist stands to win in the category Microphone Technology/Sound Reinforcement for its HSP microphones as well as in the category Wireless Technology for its SKM 5200 handheld transmitter.

The HSP 2 (omni-directional pick-up pattern) and HSP 4 (cardioid) headmics are available in two different sizes. The ear bows are made of incredibly strong β-titanium and their comfortable neckband is fully adjustable to fit any head size. The microphone boom attaches to the right or left-hand side and both length and angle are adjustable. Either in beige or in black, the HSP has an attractive, rugged design while still being visually unobtrusive and comfortable to wear.

The predecessor of the SKM 5200 handheld transmitter, the SKM 5000 N with a KK 105 S Neumann capsule, already won a TEC award back in 2003. The SKM 5200 has the same slim design but is now equipped to meet the growing challenges of an ever more crowded RF spectrum with its flexible frequency management, offering channel banks of 30 fixed and 20 variable frequencies tunable in 5 kHz steps. A multi-function jog dial allows all settings to be quickly and clearly adjusted, while a backlit LC display reliably shows all the information required. Eight interchangeable microphone heads, including two from the legendary studio microphone manufacturer Neumann, help to make the SKM 5200 a genuine all-rounder for any professional application, while the reinforced housing can withstand even the roughest treatment.

The TEC Awards have been presented since 1985 and are seen as one of the most important awards in the audio industry.
