Sennheiser´s MX W1 wins EISA Award

The MX W1 wireless stereo headphones from Sennheiser have won the coveted EISA Award presented by the European Imaging and Sound Association. In the ‘European Audio Awards’ category the innovative headphones impressed the international jury and can from now on officially use the title ‘European Headphones 2008-2009’.

“Mobile music is all very well, but wouldn’t it be great to lose those tangled headphone wires? At last that dream becomes a reality in the shape of Sennheiser’s brand-new headphone concept based on wireless audio technology from Kleer™. This new headphone design for the first time provides the luxury of audiophile-level sound quality, in a wire-free format that permits complete freedom of movement“. This was the verdict of the EISA jury, a panel which is made up of representatives from 50 European trade magazines. The coveted EISA Awards are presented each year for products in the fields of photography, video, audio & home cinema, in-car entertainment and multimedia.

Top quality wireless musical pleasure
“We are delighted to receive this award from the European Imaging and Sound Association”, said Susanne Seidel, Head of Global Marketing for Sennheiser. “We are the first manufacturers in the world to offer a complete wireless earphone system that works without compression and therefore without losing any sound quality.” The audio specialists from Wedemark in Germany launched the MX W1 in January at the CES in Las Vegas.

The new transmission technology from Kleer™ that is used in the MX W1 offers a lossless wireless audio transmission in CD-quality while consuming minimal power. This allows for a very small earphone size while maintaining long listening times. In addition to this, the product developers, as usual, paid very close attention to achieving the best acoustic quality: newly developed transducers from Sennheiser reproduce high quality detailed sound with well defined bass notes. And with Kleer™ the listening enjoyment can even be shared: the technology allows two users — a total of four separate earpieces — to be connected to the transmitter. A carrying case with quick-charge function allows for up to three full recharges while ‘on-the-move’.

About the EISA Awards

The European Imaging and Sound Association is a federation of home cinema, video, audio, car hi-fi and photography publications from 20 European countries. Since 1981, this independent organisation has presented the annual EISA Awards for outstanding products and technologies. The shortlist is compiled from new products that do well in product tests carried out by the 50 trade magazines involved. The final decision is then made by an international jury of chief editors in the fields of photography, video, audio & home cinema, in-car entertainment and multimedia. The main criteria for the awards are innovation, technology, manufacturing quality, reliability, design and price-performance ratio.
