New handheld transmitter for Sennheiser´s tourguide 2020 system

With the addition of the SKM 2020-D handheld transmitter, audio specialist Sennheiser has now rounded off its tourguide 2020 visitor guidance system. The world’s first digital, license-free visitor information system now includes a stage-quality microphone that is a sturdy and reliable partner for guided tours, company presentations and interpreting.

Whether in museums, at trade fairs or in companies — wherever information needs to be conveyed in noisy environments, the tourguide 2020 system offers the perfect solution. The HDE 2020-D stethoset receiver, the SK 2020-D bodypack transmitter and the EZL 2020 charger case have now been joined by a dynamic handheld transmitter with a cardioid pick-up pattern.

“A handheld transmitter was at the top of the list of priorities for many customers,” explains Martin Gurtner, head of the Installed Sound industry team. “With the SKM 2020-D, we can now offer them an extremely rugged microphone in a design that has proven itself on stage — in other words, an absolutely professional tool.”

To ensure that the speaker’s voice can be heard loud and clear even in the noisiest of environments, the handheld transmitter has a cardioid pick-up pattern. As a result it can concentrate on the speaker’s voice and efficiently attenuate unwanted background noise. “This guarantees that top-quality sound is transmitted,” explains Gurtner. “The design of the stethoset receivers ensures that listeners are not disturbed by unwanted noise and are able to hear the speaker with absolute clarity.”

Tourguide 2020 uses digital signal transmission in a license-free frequency band. This allows customers to use the system immediately without any licensing formalities.
