Genuine all-rounders: Sennheiser´s new HD headphones

Whether you are at home or out and about – the five new HD models from Sennheiser offer superb sound wherever you are. Their sound has been optimised for MP3 players and other portable audio equipment, but they are also ideally suited for use with a home hi-fi system. And they not only sound good, they also look good. HD 448, HD 438, HD 428, HD 418 and HD 408 each have their own individual, eye-catching design.

“Many headphones are either optimised for use with portable players or are designed to be used with home hi-fi systems,” said Maurice Quarré, Product Manager Headphones at Sennheiser. “But many music lovers want headphones that can do both, and ones that can always be relied on to offer superb sound — no matter which audio source they are connected to.” For that reason, the new HD models from Sennheiser are optimised for both applications, thus guaranteeing a top-quality sound experience in any situation.

Whether you are on the move or staying at home, the dynamic top-of-the-range HD 448 model offers a balanced stereo sound image with precise detail. Featuring similar sound characteristics is the HD 438, while the HD 428, HD 418 and HD 408 models are focused more on the lower frequencies and offer a powerful bass response. Optimum contact is guaranteed by gold-plated 3.5 mm jack plugs. For perfect sound on a home hi-fi system, the HD 448 and HD 428 models come with a gold-plated 6.3 mm stereo adapter.

Eye-catching design
With the new HD models, you can not only enjoy superb sound. The eye-catching design of the ear cups is also a pleasure in itself. “When developing the new HD models, we not only focused on achieving excellent sound, we also paid a lot of attention to their appearance. The result is that each of the new HD models now has its own individual design,” explained Maurice Quarré.

For example, the HD 448 is styled in an elegant retro design. Metallic trim elements with an embossed Sennheiser logo add a luxurious touch. Five high-gloss metallic “wheel spokes” adorn the ear cups of the HD 438, reminiscent of the alloy wheels on luxury sports cars. On the HD 428, a dark rubber coating provides a rugged, sporty design, while a delicate black-and-white wave pattern decorates the ear cups of the HD 418. A further benefit of the stylish ear cups is their closed design, which effectively shuts out external noise. The HD 408 alone has an open-back design, which makes it particularly light. Weighing just 150 grams, the attractive metallic-look model is extremely comfortable to wear.

Other features
Thanks to their ergonomic design and soft padding on the headband and ear cups, the HD models fit comfortably in every situation — even after many hours of listening enjoyment. The single-sided cable of the HD 448, HD 438, HD 428 and HD 418 ensures freedom of movement and uncomplicated handling. A particularly convenient feature: the HD 448 is supplied as standard not only with a detachable 1.4 metre long cable but also with an additional 1.6 metre long extension cable. For the HD 438, one can choose between a 1.4 metre long cable and a 3 metre long cable.

The new Sennheiser headphones will be available worldwide from end of May.
