A new look: Sennheiser presents new editions of its high-end headphones
A symbiosis of top technology and the option of an extravagant or classic design. The new 500 Series from audio specialist Sennheiser is the ideal choice for highly discerning music lovers. The three new models, the HD 598, HD 558 and HD 518, are now replacing the successful predecessor models in the audiophile segment.
To ensure a top-quality stereo sound experience, the three open, dynamic high-end headphones are equipped with Sennheiser's specially developed E.A.R. (Eargonomic Acoustic Refinement) technology. Acoustic baffles inclined at a slight angle guide the audio signal directly to the ears. As a result, the excellent sound is optimally channelled. Powerful neodymium magnets and proven Duofol diaphragms guarantee natural, lifelike reproduction of even the finest musical details, while low-vibration plastic materials prevent distortions to the sound image. The HD 558 and HD 598 also feature a sound reflector that optimises the spatial sound effect. A gold-plated 6.3 mm audio jack plug provides an optimum connection to the audio source. A new feature is the detachable cable: the bayonet plug is unlocked with a simple twist, allowing it to be easily removed.
HD 598: Aesthetics for high demands
The new HD 598 combines style and sound quality at the highest level. The high-end headphones have an impressively unique design. Cream-coloured surfaces, dark wood grain effect and glossy metallic trim suggest luxury and elegance, rounded off with a highly attractive, exclusive silhouette.
The HD 598 also combines the best of the best when it comes to its technical features. Proven Sennheiser acoustics already ensured that the predecessor model was the reference for headphones. A special diaphragm geometry minimises intermodulation distortion during sound reproduction, while a highly constant, compressed cellulose fleece reduces total harmonic distortion to below 0.1 percent. The frequency response is 12 to 38,500 Hertz.
HD 558: Optimum sound in an elegant package
The HD 558 also features an excellent, spatial sound image. The frequency response of 15 to 28,000 Hertz ensures that the listener experiences the full sound range of the music. The headphones are finished in elegant black and have extremely soft velour ear pads that guarantee maximum wearing comfort even after hours of use.
HD 518: Impressive performance
With its good price-performance ratio, the HD 518 is the entry-level model into the audiophile world. Its balanced sound image covers the frequency range from 14 to 26,000 Hertz. The ear cups have an attractive anthracite finish.
The perfect listening experience is also supported by excellent comfort. The headphones are individually adjustable to ensure a perfect fit. Breathable ear pads and a low weight ensure a listening experience of the highest quality.
