Ric Shaw Racing - Going the distance: Round 1

January 2012 – After a long sponsorship partnership between local Sennheiser distributor Syntec international & Ric Shaw racing spanning several years, the latest Ric Shaw car to enter the arena is a Mitsubishi Evo X RS built by Ralliart. The Evo that has been peppered by “Ric Shaw Racing”, has taken out victory by winning round 1 of the Australian Tarmac Championship “4 WD Showroom Class” at Targa High Country in Melbourne Australia.

Australian Tarmac Championship Stage 1: Targa High Country

Targa High Country is an Australian & International event attracting former world champions and motorsport competitors from both Australia and overseas, a tarmac rally with competitive stages on closed roads for the best touring and competition cars in the world. The event has eight stages each day heading north to Wangaratta in Melbourne via Whitfield, and Eildon via Jamieson. Both days will end with a 20 kilometer stage to the summit of Mt Buller, where the event will be based each night. However, Targa High Country is not a slow motion re-run; it is a genuine "red-blooded" motorsport competition.

Australian Tarmac Championship Stage 2 & 3: Tasmania

The final two stages are held in Tasmania; stage two being the Targa Wrest Point, again being a two day event based out of Hobart each day and the final stage being the Targa Tasmania, being held across Tasmania over several days.

The Car:

The latest Ric Shaw car is an Evo X RS by Ralliart and peppered by “Ric Shaw Racing”.

It’s a real light weight turbo 4 WD rocket says Ric Shaw. Although having a standard engine I have re-tuned it to my requirements for optimum performance, additionally I have modified its suspension, fitted race compound tyres and better breaks for enhanced performance.

The Evo is very different to drive in the Targa conditions compared to our RX7, it’s very fast mid corner and quick out of corners. We will only get faster in the Evo with more time at the wheel.
