Perfect sound in the studio
The Sennheiser HME 26 Broadcast headset

The new HME 26 Broadcast headset from Sennheiser is specially designed for use in radio and television studios. The sound pressure level of the headphones allows precise listening even in noisy surroundings, while the condenser microphone features excellent speech intelligibility and a linear frequency response. Extra-soft ear cushions and Sennheiser’s patented automatically adjusting two-piece headband guarantee a perfect fit and wearing comfort even during long periods of use.

“With its top-quality sound and transmission characteristics, the HME 26 Broadcast headset is ideally suited for use in TV and radio studios,” said Jörg Buchberger, Industry Team Manager Aviation and Professional Headsets at Sennheiser. “To ensure highly detailed, linear sound reproduction, the dynamic headphones of the headset have a frequency response from 20 to 18,000 Hz. A high sound pressure level of up to 105 dB also allows precise listening even in noisy surroundings.” The KE 4-2 condenser microphone ensures optimum speech transmission. With its linear frequency response from 40 to 20,000 Hz, it guarantees exceptionally good speech intelligibility. Its omni-directional pick-up pattern makes the microphone unaffected by wind or pop noise.

Nothing left out

“Professional headsets have to meet many different requirements,” Jörg Buchberger explained. “They not only have to provide superb sound and optimum transmission quality, they also have to offer effective shielding against background noise as well as excellent wearing comfort.” The closed, circumaural design of the HME 26 Broadcast effectively attenuates background noise by up to 25 dB. And as safety is always a priority, the headset also features a hearing protection system: Sennheiser’s own ActiveGard™ peak level protection technology automatically reduces sudden volume peaks that exceed the sensitive level of 105 dB without acoustic distortion. This system ensures that the HME 26 Broadcast fulfils EU Directives on hearing protection at the workplace. If necessary, users can deactivate ActiveGard™ via a small switch on the headphones.

In spite of its rugged design, the HME 26 is a genuine lightweight. Weighing just 200 grams and with its soft padding on the headband and ear cups, the headset remains comfortable even after many hours of use – ideal for users who have to wear headphones for long periods at a time. Sennheiser’s patented automatically adjusting two-piece headband also guarantees a secure fit when the listener is moving. Swivelling “flip-away” ear cups allow single-sided listening: when necessary, one of the ear cups can simply be folded backwards away from the ear. For those who generally prefer single-sided listening, the HME 26 Broadcast is also available as a monaural version.

The microphone can also be ideally adjusted to the user’s needs: the flexible microphone boom can be easily adjusted with one hand and can be turned through 300 degrees. This allows the microphone to be worn either on the left or on the right. When the microphone boom is raised to a vertical position, the microphone is automatically switched off, ensuring that it transmits only what listeners or viewers are meant to hear.

The HME 26 Broadcast headset is available immediately worldwide and comes with a two-year guarantee. The set includes a cable clip for the one-sided cable and a windshield for the microphone. The cable, the microphone boom and the ear pads can be easily replaced, ensuring that users can still enjoy their sturdy broadcasting headset after long periods of use even in the toughest conditions. Cables with a wide range of plug configurations, including a version with an integrated phantom power adapter, can be ordered as accessories.
