A jack of all trades for installed sound and mobile information: Sennheiser launches the EK 2020-D receiver

The audio specialist Sennheiser now presents the new EK 2020-D bodypack receiver for the licence-free tourguide 2020-D audio system. “The EK 2020 is a truly versatile device which is ideal for conducting personal tours, as well as for use at conferences and for providing audio support in locations such as in churches,” states Kai Tossing, Installed Sound Product Manager at Sennheiser. “Users are also afforded just as much flexibility: the robust and easy to use receiver can be used in conjunction with a wide range of headphones via a 3.5 mm stereo jack plug, as well as with accessories for hearing aids.”

The EK 2020 completes the tourguide 2020-D system which wirelessly transmits the audio signal in the licence-free range between 863 and 865 MHz (USA: 926-928 MHz). The user can therefore tune in immediately without having to complete any formalities beforehand. The redundancy provided by the digital transmission masks interference that would normally be heard when using analogue systems.

Conference audio or guided tour system? Both actually!

The tourguide 2020-D receivers – the renowned HDE 2020-D stethoset and the new EK 2020-D bodypack – can be adapted flexibly and easily to the task in question. Conference mode provides up to eight channels for communication. In conference rooms or churches, the receivers are used with a rack-mount transmitter and a large capacity charger that caters for 40 receivers. Six channels are available for visitor tours. Tour guides can use a microphone, or a bodypack transmitter with a headset microphone if they need their hands free. The system is supplemented by a transport and charging case with space for 20 receivers.

Flexibility is the key

Headphones, hearing aid cables and induction couplers – all manner of audio accessories with a 3.5 mm jack plug can be connected to the EK 2020-D. The Sennheiser portfolio includes a wide range of headphones, induction neckloops or couplers and DAI cables that transmit audio directly to hearing aids. The EK 2020 can receive signals for 16 hours on one charge. The battery status is displayed on a backlit LC display, as are details about the receiving channel and the signal strength. The receiver can be programmed via the charger so that all the relevant settings for a conference or a tour involving the desired number of receivers can be taken care of at the same time as the charging.

The EK 2020-D bodypack receiver is available to purchase now.
